Truth Study Journal

Intro

Getting honest about what needs to change sounds like a simple thing, but for so many of us it can be such a complex process. There’s no way for me to know exactly what you might be facing… And it’s easy for me to say that the time for change is now, but I do want you to know that my words are only meant as encouragement. Truth can be a touchy subject. But it’s never meant to be insensitive, it’s only meant to be a wakeup call. I know what that’s what I needed, and if that’s what you’re looking for you’re in the right place.

Show Notes

Study Journal Episodes have three parts, indications, benefits and journaling exercises. First we talk about some of the indications, in this case mostly feelings that might point to the need for energetic practice. Sometimes there are also physical signs and recurring thought patterns that are coming up as warning signs that need to be acknowledged and investigated.

Here are a few of the most obvious indications that we talked about:

  • Instability

  • Confusion

  • Insecurity

  • Powerlessness

  • Apathy

  • Denial

  • Excessive thought of past or future

We also went over some of the benefits that come from working with this Principle in a practical way:

  • Stability

  • Security

  • Support

  • Enhanced Situational Awareness

  • Objectivity

  • A Higher point of view

For Truth most of that has to do with grounding and that’s what we’ll work on together in the Truth Practice Challenge. The journaling exercise is focused on identifying triggers that might come to the surface just before we fall into unhealthy behavior or thought patterns. Listen to the full episode or check out the transcript for more about how to work through the process of identifying specific triggers. You can use some of the prompts below for journaling in a less structured way.

Here are a few of the prompts that we used:

  • If there is something that comes up for you on a regular basis see if you can pinpoint the last time it happened and how that felt…

  • Is there a physical sensation that goes along with it?

  • Can you think of anything that helps you recognize this particular thought process or behavior looming before it actually happens?

  • And, how does it start?

Don’t forget the Challenge Question for this week:

  • Do you think it’s harder to hear the Truth it, or to tell it?

Finally, if you haven’t started a study journal yet now is the time! I’ll put a couple of links at the bottom if you’d like to see a few of our favorites. I like spiral bound notebooks best. I love being able to just rip the pages out, you’ll see why in a few weeks! But I have so many students who really love loose leaf versions and some who just go for the aesthetics. All I have to say about that is that they’re all good if they make you want to write in them! The first link to the spiral notebook with the leather cover is my favorite because I feel like it has both the function and still feels special. Just know that it really doesn’t matter. You don’t have to go buy something for this. Use whatever you already have for now!

I’d love to hear what you thought about today’s episode. Come connect with us on social media to join in the conversation.
